Hosting Advice

Some things to think about for your event: πŸ“… Choose a date that works best for you and aligns with the availability of attendees. Consider weekends or days when people are more likely to be available. Events work best on Saturdays. πŸ“ Select a venue that can accommodate the size of your event and aligns with the theme or activities you have in mind. Whether it's a park, community center, or other public spaces, make sure to research any permits or reservations required. πŸŽ‰ Determine the theme or focus of your event. It could be a fursuit meetup, picnic, gaming night, movie screening, or any other furry-friendly gathering. Get creative and think about what would excite fellow furries. πŸ“’ Spreading the Word: As much as the NYFurs Discord community will take care of promoting your event, you can also engage with anyone who has questions, and post your meetup proudly to your friends or family! πŸ“Έ If photography or videography will be involved, think about your guidelines regarding consent and respect for privacy. Make it known that attendees have the option to opt out of being photographed or filmed. It is courtesy to call any public place up in case they don't allow photography, but don't worry about it if your group is small. Our photography guidelines can be found in our Terms and Conditions. πŸš€ Consider logistics such as event duration, any necessary equipment or supplies, and potential costs. Create a detailed plan for the activities, schedule, and any additional attractions or surprises you have in store. πŸ’¬ Maintain clear and open communication with participants. Share updates, answer queries, and provide any necessary instructions or reminders leading up to the event. Encourage attendees to share their excitement and invite others. 🌟 Remain inclusive and welcoming atmosphere at your event. Ensure that all attendees feel safe and comfortable expressing their furry identities. πŸ‘₯ Don't hesitate to message admins, mods or other members for help. They may have valuable experience or resources to contribute from past events, giving you a better idea of what kind of events people would enjoy. πŸ‘‹ During the event, you can encourage participants to interact, make new friends, and celebrate their shared love for all things furry. You can consider making icebreaker activities or provide opportunities for attendees to showcase their fursuits, art, or other creations. (This is for big events only, of course.) You don't have to be the best planner or communicator, even a simple pitch is fine. But if you wanted to make your group more successful, these are just tips we provide to make your event more fun. At the end of the day it can just be a casual meetup between your friends~
