Responsibilities

As a photographer, your primary responsibility is to capture the special moments throughout the event. It is crucial to prioritize the consent and comfort of all attendees. Always ask before taking pictures of people if they are okay with NYFurs using the picture. If they ask for clarification where these events will be used, and you do not know, contact the host.

Encourage attendees to pose for photos, but always respect their wishes if they decline or seem uncomfortable. There are a various number of reasons why an individual would be uncomfortable. Examples include:

Take a variety of shots that represent the full event experience—candid moments, group photos, and action shots—but always with the attendees’ comfort in mind. You do not need to ask permission for group photos, as people should be aware they're being photographed. However, if you're unsure about a certain scenario, check with the host or event manager for guidance.

If anybody at the event is not a staff photographer and is taking pictures of people, ask them if they received consent. If an individual is constantly taking pictures of other people at the event without consent, tell them to stop. If they persist, please let the NYF security (not mall security) know.

If you hear about an incident after an event has ended, please reach out to [email protected] and explain the incident.
